The Chariot Card from the Tarot Illuminati deck by Erik C. Dunne

Hello Colorful Creative!

The Chariot is a powerful card that shows the rider confidently controlling the reins of two opposing forces while strongly maintaining his vision towards his destination. It is a card of power, victory, determination, and focused will. This is the seventh card in the Major Arcana.

Creative Aspect: Nothing is more exciting than having an idea for your creative work, and having the skill and will to bring it into being. Like a potter working with a lump of clay, pushing and pulling the earth to create a beautiful piece for all to enjoy. The potter through sheer focus and will, transforms her mental concept into physical reality. This is the card that indicates confidence in your abilities and skill to create what you want. If you are still developing your skills (as a creative, this should be an ongoing goal), this card reminds you to continue learning and growing with determination to be able to achieve your desired result.

If you picked this card for creative inspiration, know you have the ability to get to your wanted destination if you keep your focus and stay calm. This does not always mean a smooth ride. There might be potholes that cause the road to be bumpy, but this is par for the course.

As a concept, how can you express control, determination, victory, will and power in your work? What would that look like?

When working on a project, you need to have a clear picture of your wanted end result. That doesn’t mean that you won’t make adjustments along the way. In fact, use your developed skills to “rein in” projects that start to get out of hand by refocusing your will. That being said, this card also reminds us to trust ourselves and tune in to that inner knowing. Sometimes it’s more effective to “loosen those reins” a bit and let your intuition flow when working on your art.

The cards with a seven value deal with having options and choice. This can be a good thing or bad depending on intent. Too many choices can sometimes leave you scattered, overwhelmed and unfocused. Use the energy of the Chariot to redefine your will for your creative work, and get back on track. Choose the path that most resonates with you. Your inner knowing will be your guide.

The power is in your hands. Just be willing to take the reins and set the desired path for your creative spirit.

Questions to ponder if you draw the Chariot card:

1. Do I have a clear direction for my creative work, or am I all over the place?

2. What do I need more control over in my process?

3. Is there any part of my process that I’m trying to control too much instead of trusting my instincts?
